Gunter is portrayed much younger than his appearance in the original. Where as he was grey haired with a full beard in the original, he has brown hair stubbly beard in the remake. The angle of his face has been changed as well. Other bits of the scene have been modified as well. There is no longer a scene of his face, and a snake wrapping itself around Gunter's throat (the scene has been shifted slightly and extended, and now happens later, and focuses directly on his throat and the snake, and then a scene showing him physically choking).
